EA and Paramount working on Need for Speed movie?

EA and Paramount Pictures reportedly in talks over the rights to an upcoming Hollywood produced Need for Speed movie release

Publisher EA is looking to sell the movie rights to one of its leading gaming franchises with new reports suggesting a deal to create a Need for Speed film is currently in the works.

Set to launch the 19th title in the Need for Speed franchise later this year, EA is currently in talks with a number of Hollywood picture houses over a potential The Fast and the Furious style film with the script currently under work via George and John Gatins.

Tipped to be on the cusp of development, the Need for Speed movie rights are reportedly drawing a number of seven-figure bids from the majority of Hollywood studios with Universal the only major studio to have announced itself out of the running as it begins work of the sixth film in The Fast and Furious franchise.

With all the rumours flitting around a potential Need for Speed movie, Paramount is reportedly leading the charge to turn the much loved gaming series into a big screen hit with bids also being considered by Sony and Warner Brothers.
