Down into the depths with Google Ocean
Don't forget your trunks
Google has updated its Google Earth software to 5.0, adding Google Ocean, some historical maps and a trip around Mars.
But some significant is the Ocean data. Take a dip beneath the waves to enjoy the seabed in oh-so-real 3D, with videos, imagery and eco-facts from the Ocean lift thrown in for good measure. After all, there's only so many generated curves we can deal with at any one time. And if you're a keen diver, you can check out underwater mountains, famous shipwrecks and other marine hotspots in preparation for next year's holiday.
Not enough for you? Well, Google has even more in Earth 5.0, including 'virtual time travel', which offers you the chance to view past satellite photography, so you can see how an area has changed and a 3D tour of Mars, space tourism for a credit crunch if you like.
Lots more to see too, but if you really want to get the lowdown, we suggest you head on over to Google and upgrade right now. Perfect for killing time in your lunch hour - or if you happen to be snowed in at home.
