Digg's UK traffic figures down 34% after redesign

Digg

Could the redesign not be digg-ed by its users???

Digg recently redesigned its website towards the end of August and has seen a decrease in website hits since then.

The social bookmarking website saw its UK traffic fall 34 per cent, as compared to a 26 per cent fall in the US after its rehauled look.

According to Hitwise, which conducted data mining on the new Digg site, the new look hasn't gone down well with the site's core users.

Research director of Hitwise, Robin Goad, said: "Unhappy with the way Digg has changed, many of the high-profile power users publicly rebelled by switching to another social bookmarking site, reddit.com."

However, Reddit's traffic figures are up by just 2.6 per cent since August.

CEO Kevin Rose wrote in a blog post titled, 'Digg v4: release, iterate, repeat', that their top priority was to stabilise the site and make decisions after looking at feedback.

If the traffic figures are anything to go by, the core users of Digg have spoken.
