Blizzard have announced that its dungeon crawler Diablo III is set to arrive on both the Sony PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4
In possibly the biggest surprise of last night's PlayStation reveal event in New York, Blizzard have announced their first console game is in the pipeline in over a decade. Sony PS4 and PS3 owners, it seems, will finally be able to sample the delights of the superb dungeon crawler Diablo III.
According to Blizzard, the version of Diablo III for both of Sony's consoles will be based on the core experience of the current PC version and it'll boast all the latest upgrades including Paragon leveling, Brawling, Legendary items and customisable Monster Power. The game will support both single player and up to four player co-op. The PS3 version of Diablo III will be shown at PAX East in Boston next month.
"Diablo III looks and plays great on the PlayStation," said Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime. "We put a lot of care and thought into the PlayStation version to make sure it would deliver an authentic Diablo gaming experience and we're really pleased with the results."
Blizzard has made no mention of a port to Microsoft's console platform, so for now, Diablo III is a Sony console exclusive. Whether or not players will require a Battle.net account in and be permanently logged into it to enjoy Diablo III is unknown at this time.
