Deus Ex: Human Revolutions contains easter eggs

QR codes and sci-fi heavily featured in new release

Square Enix and Eidos-Montreal have devised a real world treasure hunt via hidden in-game easter eggs - now that's a delicious treat!

The Deus Ex: Human Revolutions game has been in development for more years than many would care to remember. Finally, it has arrived to rave reviews and as usual games developer Square Enix have supplied their sci-fi fanatic fans with a number of intriguing easter eggs and references within the game.

Through-out the game users will come across QR codes. These codes can be found in the real world as well, on advertising, marketing and PR material, as well as on publisher Eidos-Montreal's Facebook page and official website. Providing you have a device running iOS with a camera on it, you can scan these QR codes to unlock both in-game and real world goodies.

The first 1,000 people to find 10 QR codes will receive an exclusive Deus Ex theme for their Xbox 360 or Playstation 3. For the most dedicated code hunters, the first 10 people to find all 21 QR codes will receive a substantial prize package, consisting of an 'Augmented Edition' copy of Deus Ex: Human Revolution for the console of their choice, a limited edition sleeve for the game, an Adam Jensen action figure and a pair of custom Deus Ex: Human Revolution headphones.

Also included are references to famous sci-fi films, authors and other gaming franchises so there is plenty there for completionist gamers to find. If you would rather just see some of it without having to spend time looking yourself, check out the video below.
