Massive handset with slide-out QWERTY added to WP7 launch range
Dell has today launched the Venue Pro smartphone, an enormous beast of a device carrying the new Windows Phone 7 operating system.
The Venue Pro, which is being pictched at the BlackBerry, crowd has a massive 4.1-inch AMOLED multi-touch screen and a QWERTY keyboard which slides out from the bottom of the handset, which probably makes the thing close to 7-inches in length when extended.
It's a rather tough-looking animal which, would kick the ass off any of the other WP7 handsets launched today, and also boasts the Gorilla glass screen that we saw on the Android-toting 5-inch Dell Streak device earlier this year. From the first snaps of the device it looks to be pretty slender and pocket friendly too.
As with all Windows 7 phones, there's a 1GHz snapdragon processor and a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus. Naturally there'll be a host of WP7 OS features such as Xbox Live gaming, a Zune music player and hubs for People, Places and the many different compartments of your smartphone.
We're awating details of UK availability, if it comes at all, and which networks will be carrying it. In any case we expect it to become available on WP7 D-Day, which is October 21st.
So far it isn't listed on the official Windows 7 UK page, so we won't be holding our breath for now.
