Dell Venue Pro release finally hits the UK

Windows Phone 7 handset lands following repeated delays

QWERTY slider handset joins the Phone 7 party

The long overdue Dell Venue Pro has officially launched in the UK with the Windows Phone 7 handset being made available direct from Dell for £459 SIM-free.

Delayed due to a reported firmware issue, Dell’s opening Phone 7 handset was beaten to an OS first earlier this month when the HTC 7 Pro launched featuring a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Whilst the HTC handset features a landscape keyboard, the new Dell model drops its keyboard in a portraight stance, a position more attuned to the landscape fearing Microsoft operating system.

One of the handsets outed at the launch of the Windows Phone 7 OS launch late last year, the Dell Venue Pro was originally set to touch down ahead of the Christmas period before being struck by the first round of delays. Later pegged for an early February arrival, the Dell device once again missed its launch date before finally marking its arrival on the brink of March.

As well as touting Microsoft’s much praised mobile OS and a physical slide-out QWERTY keyboard, the Dell Venue Pro features a 1GHz processor, 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and 16GB of internal storage all wra[pped around a 4.1-inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen display.
