Dell to launch super-slim Adamo notebook
Heading your way in February 2009
If we were to ask you for two words to describe a Dell notebook, we're guessing 'slim' and 'sleek' wouldn't figure. But they do apparently sum up Dell's great hope for 2009 - the Dell Adamo notebook.
Sadly, pictures aren't available as yet, just a fairly unhelpful teaser site. But there is plenty of comment and speculation. From that, we know it's likely to be both lighter and thinner than a MacBook Air. Quoted in the New York Times, Dell's 'VP of consumer sales of marketing' said: 'I think we need to get some iconic products out there, so people associate Dell’s brand with other things. Namely, that’s goodbye to clunky, and hello to sleek.'
The same newspaper also speculates that Dell could 'shave $400 off the MacBook Air price', while Engadget offers up details of a black and silver colour scheme, along with a February 2009 launch date for what it calls 'the world's thinnest laptop'.
We expect photos to break cover well before that date - and when they do, you'll be amongst the first to see them.
