Dell teases with super-thin Adamo XPS

Nice shape, but what's on the inside?

Remember the long teasing campaign for the original Dell Adamo notebook? It went on longer than the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, eventually presenting us with a stylish laptop that disappointed slightly when we finally got hands-on. Especially with an asking price of over £1,600. So we're not sure what to expect with the Adamo XPS.

Dell has started another teaser campaign for the Dell XPS, showcasing the killer feature from the off - this is incredibly thin. In comparison, the MacBook Air looks like it's had a month on a pie, chips and beer diet. Ok, it's not that extreme, but Dell claims its new machine is 9.99mm thick or thin, compared to the original Adamo (around 16.5mm) and the MacBook Air, which is a generous 19.3mm at its thickest point. So the big question is...what can you actually fit into a case so slim?

The answer is, right now, we don't know. Dell's teaser campaign will no doubt reveal nuggets of information as the days and weeks progress to launch, but as the Dell Adamo XPS is an XPS machine (Xtreme Performance System), a brand usually reserved for high-performance machines, we're expecting something above the ordinary. Certainly something a step on from the mediocre performance of the original Adamo and hopefully without the premium price tag. Not that we expect the latter from what is pitched as premium product.

More on those inner workings as soon as we hear it. In the meantime, you can sign up for more details on the Adamo XPS at the teaser page, as well as admiring that sleek profile in all its full-screen glory.

It is a copy off the iMac. That is all there is to say. You can see the post the monitor is standing on and the speakers under it. Just like the Apple iMac.

I cannot believe what they did to the keyboard.
If the revealed pictures of it are true then it is a big deal breaker for me.Getting a larger keyboard by ‘chopping off and relocating keys is a poor solution.I actually wanted it to be a winner as I have had good results with my Dell computers.
