Dell Streak and O2 face Android 2.1 update troubles

Streak update follows O2 FroYo for Desire user issues

O2 repeatedly hit by Android upgrade woes

Following the troubles encountered by its Android 2.2 for HTC Desire update yesterday, O2 has once again come under criticism as an Android 2.1 update for the Dell Streak has reportedly caused a number of users to face issues with their tablet devices.

Dell and O2 forums have been lit up by indignant users looking to replace the dated Android 1.6 operating system their devices shipped with as the 2.1 update reportedly removes more features than it adds.

Previously stable data and installed applications are all reported victims of the Google OS upgrade with PC synchronisation, the Facebook widget and Windows Media Video playback all being damaged by the OS install.

Just yesterday O2 became the latest UK network provider to begin rolling out its FroYo update for the hugely successful HTC Desire handset. Within hours, however, the mobile operator was forced to disband the upgrade following a number of complaints whose handsets had crashed and frozen following the 2.2 addition.
