Coronation Street spin-off games confirmed

There is a fine line between stocking filler and bargain basement

Sounding alot like an April Fools joke that has come two months early, the soap opera stars of the cobbled streets of Weatherfield, Manchester are soon to be featuring on your console screen as well as your telly.

ITV has confirmed that they will be releasing a series of spin-off games on the Nintendo DS inspired by the hugely popular soap.

Mindscape, the game developers behind such gaming treats as Deal or No Deal and MTV Fan Attack, are working on the series of Corrie games in time for a Christmas release.

Littered with its fair share of murderering neighbours and adultrous harlets, the soap that also takes itself a little less serious than its rivals (remember the Peter Kay cameo?) is one of the longest running and most followed programmes on UK television.

ITV it appears, is clearly hoping to convert some tasty viewing figures into some rather attractive gaming cash profit.

Personally, we are eagerly anticipating the 'How many sandwiches can you make in Roy's Cafe' mini-game.
