Canon fires it up

Exclusive video: New DSLRs beat the competition at a canter.

It's the worst kept secret in the world of photography. Canon has finally announced two new strapping DSLRs that have been all over the web for what feels like weeks.

The EOS 40D and EOS 1Ds Mark III are the sort of snappers you see crooked over the arms of uber-alert papparazzi, stalking the streets of Camden making Any Winehouse's life a misery.

The 40D takes it cue from its 30D predecessor, with a ton of cool new features to make your wannabe arty pics even better. There's built in weather proofing, a 10-meg CMOS sensor, 6.5 fps shooting, a massive 3-inch LCD round the back and an even faster lens.

But it's the 1Ds Mark III that's really got us believing those dreams that one day we'll be David Bailey, snapping away and, ahem, making nice with a slew of models.

The so-called best camera in the world crams in a massive 20-meg of power, which is, frankly, insane. But beyond that eye-watering figure, the 1Ds marks itself out with a full-frame sensor, a huge viewfinder and UDMA support.

Get it firing on full 5fps an it'll process 185MB of data a second. Not bad, is it?

Check out our gallery and drop in later for a video of it in all its glory.
