Canon EOS 60D and 1Ds set for 26 August release?

Invite points to new top-end snappers coming before end of month

Canon's Polish division sends out invites for exclusive unveiling. What could it be?

Canon’s much-hyped EOS 60D and 1Ds Mark IV could be getting an official airing before the end of the month. The camera maker’s Polish office has just sent out invites to an exclusive gathering on 26 August, with rumours rampant that both snappers will be on show.

The 1Ds is certainly likely to take a bow, with Canon promising a new “flagship DSLR”. Specs-wise, the 1Ds Mark IV remains shrouded in mystery, but expect it to pack Full HD video as well as pro-friendly features.

On top of that, the EOS 60D has apparently been spotted doing the rounds at a presentation for Canon insiders. Word is it crams in 18 megapixels, 1080p shooting and even a swivel screen, a Canon first.
