Call of Duty release confirmed for Sony PS Vita
Ahead of this week’s official UK release of Sony’s next-generation portable games console, developer Activision has revealed it is to bring its record breaking Call of Duty franchise to the Sony PS Vita.
With the Vita struggling to gain traction in Sony’s native Japan since its release late last year, the imminent UK arrival of the touchscreen touting portable gamer will be bolstered later this year as SCEA’s new Senior Vice President of the PlayStation brand revealing the upcoming COD Vita title.
A Sony PS Vita UK release date has been set for February 22nd with the PSP replacement set to land alongside a bevy of premium gaming offerings including Wipeout 2048 and Uncharted.
Remaining cagey around precise details of the game, the new PlayStation SVP Guy Longworth outed the Call of Duty PS Vita plans telling GameTailers his teenage sons were looking forward to the game’s release.
"Of course in the autumn, they're really looking forward to Call of Duty on Vita," he said, adding, "and we think that's going to be an absolute game-changer for the platform."
Whilst Longworth failed to expand on which Call of Duty title would be making the jump to the Vita, the touted autumn arrival would seemingly rule out this year’s new COD title with a November release expected for the heavily rumoured Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 offering.
