Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 eclipsed by Skyrim

Elder Scrolls title dominates latest COD release in terms of Steam users

Elder Scrolls V Skyrim has dominated the year's biggest entertainment release, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, across online gaming service Steam

With Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 being announced as the largest entertainment launch in history as developer Activision shifts 6.5 million copies in the game's opening 24 hours it has been revealed the first-person shooter has been dominated by fellow new release Skyrim.

Whilst it may not be able to compete with Modern Warfare 3 in terms of overall sales the latest addition to the Elder Scrolls series has eclipsed the Battlefield 3 rival in terms of users on the PC based game streaming service, Steam, new reports have revealed.

Heading the Steam user charts with as many as 267,229 concurrent users, Skyrim, which like the latest COD title saw eager gamers queuing through the night to be the first to snap up the title at midnight openings, eclipsed the Steam figures recorded by MW3.

Peaking at 78,168 users following its launch of November 8th, Stream’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 users had dropped to 64,171 at the time of Skyrim's release three days later. This figure represented Steam's second most popular title.
