Activision has announced user figures for its recently launched Call of Duty Elite offering with the COD add-on now hosting the gaming industry’s third highest subscriber base.

With a subs base smaller than only MMO giant World of Warcraft and Microsoft’s Xbox Live service, Activision has revealed that the COD Elite service has more than 7 million registered users.

Of this impressive figure, 1.5 million of those signed up to the stat-tracking service have paid to make use of the flurry of incoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 DLC content having paid for the Premium Call of Duty Elite subscription offering.

“Call of Duty Elite is already one of the fastest-growing and largest online services ever,” an Activision spokesperson said during the company’s quarterly profits call earlier this week. Stating that the company would “keep our foot on the gas with Call of Duty Elite,” the Activision speaker added that “additional features [will land] in the next 60 days.”
