Subscription based CoD service enters beta phase

Activision has begun rolling out the Call of Duty Elite beta to gamers

Call of Duty Elite is to enter its beta phase today after more than two million eager gaming fans signed up to test the latest addition to the first person shooter franchise.

Officially unveiled by developer Activision at the end of May Call of Duty Elite is an online subscription service that will launch alongside Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on November 8th with gamers able to more thoroughly track their in-game stats.

Chronicling the intricate details of a gamer’s gameplay history, Call of Duty Elite will record all actions made within the game from the standard kills made to the more detailed shot accuracy and a host of other percentages.

To mark the start of the beta testing emails containing logon instructions are to begin rolling out across candidates worldwide today and continue over the coming weeks. When the subscription service launches later this year those signed up will be able to compete for a variety of in-game and real world prizes.
