Call of Duty: Black Ops replaces GT5 atop UK charts

Black Ops returns to top spot as GT5 falls to fourth

Gran Turismo demoted by FIFA and Assassin's Creed

Call of Duty: Black Ops has returned to the top of the UK video game charts as last week’s leading title, Gran Turismo 5, falls in popularity to fourth position.

Activision’s dominant first person shooter has continued with its strong opening sales that broke all UK gaming records, easily surpassing the mark set by its predecessor Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 last year.

Black Ops was followed in the top three by the resurgent FIFA 11 and Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood with Just Dance 2 following the PS3 exclusive Gran Turismo 5 in rounding out the top five.

In a week of lackluster game launches, the week’s highest new entry was Donkey Kong Country Returns at number 13 followed by Super Mario All-Stars at 22. The expected Christmas hit, Michael Jackson: The Experience rose to number six in the charts having debuted at 32 last week.
