Call of Duty: Black Ops pre-orders breaking records

New Call of Duty surpasses Modern Warfare 2 pre-orders

Black Ops on course to rake it in for Activision

US retailer Gamestop has revealed that it has taken an "all time" record of pre-orders for Call of Duty: Black Ops ahead of its November launch.

Bob McKenzie, Gamestop's Senior Vice President of merchandising who said that the retailer has been "tracking to all-time, record reservations on Call of Duty: Black Ops," believes Activision could be looking at similiar success story: "We are ahead of where we were with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 last year, which previously set the industry standard."

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, the last game in the cinematic first-person shooter franchise became the biggest product launch ever, and the UK's best-selling game of all time when it launched in August last year. Similiar success is expected from the new CoD which looks another visually stunning effort from game developers Treyarch.

Set to place COD lovers in a plethora of real world conflicts between World War II and the present day, gameplay will feature in various periods of the Cold War leading you through war torn terrain in Cuba, the Arctic and Vietnam. CoD fans can also look forward to Black Ops 3D gameplay which Treyarch confirmed last week.

In a bid to outdo the night vision goggles given away with Prestige editions of Modern Warfare 2, Black Ops Prestige editions will be packed with a remote controlled car.

Call of Duty: Black Ops arrives in the UK on November 9th. You can check out the latest teaser trailer showing off single player mode below.
