Call of Duty: Black Ops parody released by Epic Games
Call of Duty comes under attack from snide rival
Epic Games has made an underhand dig at the hugely popular Call of Duty gaming franchise by releasing a CoD parody game to promote its upcoming release Bulletstorm.
Dubbed Duty Calls the fully playable single level makes snide jibes at the recently released Call of Duty: Black Ops title which took the gaming world by storm following its arrival late last year. This week saw the arrival of the first Call of Duty: Black Ops downloadable content pack, First Strike with a number of new multiplayer levels hitting the first person shooter.
Sure to split opinion the parody release which is available as a download repeatedly targets areas of the gaming franchise that has often been criticised as taking itself too seriously with slow-motion action sequences, narrative enhancing dialogue and enemy communications all coming under attack.
Simplistic and quick to complete, one user has posted a complete video walk through of Duty Calls, visible below, taking just over four minutes of humour-filled gameplay to complete the release.
With Bulletstorm set to be released for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 in the UK on February 25th, Epic Games has been heavily pushing the claim that its upcoming title will “put the fun back into gun”.
