Following TomTom’s confirmation that it would open negotiations with Blessed if the Facebook group received 25,000 members, Gardner contacted Blessed himself with the giant Yorkshire actor producing a film campaign to support the Facebook group and agreeing to lend his voice to the navigation tech.

Having breached the 25,000 mark and moved steadily onwards, TomTom has now confirmed that Blessed will become the next celebrity voice of its products joining the likes of John Cleese, Snoop Dogg, Darth Vader and Homer Simpson as optionnavigational settings.

Speaking following the announcement, Damian Woodward, TomTom’s UK VP of sales and marketing said:"Voices are becoming an ever more popular personalisation tool for our sat navs and it's been an interesting journey watching this particular campaign take shape. It shows the power of social media, and if we can bring shouty happiness to over 25,000 people who are we to deny it?"
