Borderlands 2 tops UK game sales chart

Players head to Pandora en masse as Borderlands 2 trumps F1 and Pro Evo

Borderlands 2 has debuted at the top of the UK videogames sales chart, fighting off competition from F1 2012 and Pro Evolution Soccer 2013

Gearbox's massive shooter RPG hybrid, Borderlands 2, has rocketed to the top of the UK videogames sales chart, beating off stiff opposition from Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 and F1 2012. Codemasters' superb Formula 1 racing simulater debuted in second position while Konami's football game landed in third place. Borderlands 2's high sales effectively ends Sleeping Dogs's dominance of the sales chart; Square Enix's open-world adventures slips three places into fourth position.

The only other new releae to crack the top ten in sales was LittleBigPlanet for the PS Vita, which debuted in sixth position. The top ten chart shapes up as follows:
