Blizzard sued over WOW, Depeche Mode and Winona Ryder called to testify

Man who sued PSN, twice, is at it again...

Professional lawsuit chaser, Erik Estavillo, has sued Blizzard, the creators of World of Warcraft, for creating a game that encourages depression and isolation (of course it’s the game’s fault he has no friends).

As if that wasn’t confusing enough, Estavillo has subpoenaed Depeche Mode founder Martin Lee Gore and actress Winona Ryder to act as witnesses in the trial. He claims that the “sad, lonely and alienated” songs written by Gore, qualifies him to comment on the case.

Furthermore, according to Estavillo, Ryder’s understanding of Catcher in the Rye apparently means that she should testify that the alienation described in the book is comparable to the alienation experienced by video gamers.

While we let your minds digest this incredulous tale, we should point out that Estavillo tried to sue Sony, twice, for banning him from the PlayStaion Network for abusing Resistance players.

When that failed, he then took on Nintendo for cutting him off from the Wii network after he had played a pirated copy of Super Mario Galaxy. He said that Nintendo had stood in the way of his “pursuit of happiness”.

This time around, he is claiming that Blizzard maintains a “harmful virtual environment”. He adds that Blizzard has designed characters to “walk or run at a calculated slow pace, resulting in the player taking longer to get where he or she needs to go in the game,” and thus thoroughly ruin his day.

Here, at T3, we suspect that Estavillo just needs a good hug. Although, we better not say that too loudly or we could be his next target.
