BlackBerry Torch UK price to be confirmed by networks

9800 Slider to get UK price in the "coming weeks"

UK networks to shed light on BlackBerry Torch UK pricing

RIM, creators of the new BlackBerry Torch handset are remaining tight-lipped about the number of UK networks that will host the device stating that UK prices will be decided by the hosting service providers.

The new 9800 Torch device announced globally yesterday is the first touchscreen QWERTY slider to come from the Canadian company and a device that RIM is describing as “the best BlackBerry ever.” Whilst AT&T has been announced as the sole American handler of the Torch with a handset cost of $200 on a two year contract, the number of UK providers that will stock the new device and at what prices remains a mystery.

A UK exclusivity deal has been all but ruled out by RIM for the Torch as it declared “UK partners would be announced in the coming weeks.” Responding to this, Vodafone has been first to announce it will be one UK network provider to host the Torch, the first handset to boast the new BlackBerry 6 operating system . Not shy to toot its own horn, RIM has hurled praise at its opening OS6 handset stating: “We feel this is pretty unique” adding “This is something we are really proud of.”

Full details on the number of and exact service providers to host the new BlackBerry Torch are expected to roll out continually throughout the opening weeks of August with prices soon to follow.
