T-Mobile first to offer BlackBerry Pearl 3G on PAYG

Just one day after RIM unveiled the newest edition to the BlackBerry family the BlackBerry Torch 9800, UK service provider T-Mobile yesterday announced it will host the BlackBerry Pearl 3G on a pay-as-you-go tariff.

The first time the Pearl 3G has been offered on PAYG in the UK, T-Mobile are offering the handset at just £249.99 with customers who sign up before the end of August getting six months free email and internet access.

Preloaded with Facebook, Twitter and of course BBM, the BlackBerry Pearl 3G adds a more entertainment approach to the traditionally business orientated RIM handsets, further boosted by a 3.2-megapixel camera.

Discussing this move away from a purely business background, Nicola Shenton, T-Mobile’s Head of Device Marketing said: “BlackBerrys are no longer just for business use. More and more of our customers are asking for them, and by offering the handsets on a pay-as-you-go tariff, we’re making it more accessible.”

Adding to this multimedia slant on the Pearl 3G, RIM has included Media Sync for BlackBerry that allows users to sync their iTunes or Windows Media Player music libraries direct to their Wi-Fi connectable, push email touting handsets.
