BlackBerry Media Sync launches for Mac
Macs feel the BlackBerry love
BlackBerry has has a storming year sales-wise, but its appeal has definitely been limited by its PC-specific software, making the transfer of contacts, media and updates all the more tricky for Mac owners. That is something maker RIM is tackling in 2009, with the first of its Mac-friendly software even making an appearance at the back end of this year.
Yes, just launched is BlackBerry Media Sync for Mac, a small step for your smartphone, but a very large step for RIM. From this week, you can easily transfer your audio and video files from iTunes, either in their entirety or limited by storage size or playlist, the artwork copied over too for easy browsing. Yes, it's like having an iPod with email in your pocket.
But before you rush to download, there are some words of warning. Firstly, this is currently a 'preview' version, which means there are still bugs in the works. And secondly, using Media Sync will kill off any other syncing program you have (third party software has been available to fill the gap). If you can deal with that, download away!
