Leaked images of the BlackBerry L Series reveal that RIM's forthcoming smartphone looks to be a touchscreen device
Images leaked onto the internet seem to indicate a radical new direction for the BlackBerry L Series of smartphones. A photo of the device shows a slender touchscreen and several apps for music, social networks, BBM, Story Maker and DocsToGo.
The new handset, which is designed by Porsche, is more in keeping with the aesthetic of other modern touchscreen smartphone devices on the market. BlackBerry news site N4BB says the device will come in 'gun-metal' colour and feature a removable 1800mAh LS1 battery - shown in a leaked video posted on BlackBerryItalia.it which shows the sim card installation instructions.
Information that has alread been leaked about the device states it's rumoured to feature a TI OMAP dual-core CPU running at 1.5GHz, as well as 1GB of RAM and 16GB storage. It's set to run on BlackBerry's OS 7 operating system and also contain an 8-megapixel camera. The device is also rumoured to be scheduled for release early next year.
