BioShock Infinite is set to receive three DLC packs, Clash In The Clouds released today and the two-part, Burial At Sea
You know how it is: you spend three months waiting for a BioShock Infinite DLC pack and then three show up at once.
Irrational Games has revealed that its steampunk shooter will receive three packs of downloadable content. The first is entitled Clash In the Clouds, which is released today for 400 MS points/£3.69, and it's a wave-based shooter arena where players are simply tasked with surviving the odds.
"Players will combine a diverse toolset of weapons, Vigors, gear, Tears and Sky-Lines in four new areas inspired by the classic BioShock Infinite environments," a statement by Irrational Games said. "In addition, by completing all 60 Blue Ribbon challenges, players will unlock exclusives in the Columbian Archeological Society, gaining access to new Voxophones, Kinetoscopes, concept art and more."
While this all sounds like enticing fodder for leaderboard chasing gun-toters, we have to confess we find the second and third DLC packs, which comprise the two-part story, Burial At Sea, far more appealing. The reason? Because the action is all story-based and - more importantly - it takes place in Rapture.
Yes, the new DLC for BioShock Infinite returns players to the sunken dystopia built by ardent industrialist Andrew Ryan in his quest for a society founded on the philosophy of Objectivism. The story centres around a PI named Booker DeWitt who takes on a case from a femme fatale named Elizabeth (see what they did there?) on the day the civil war in Rapture broke out. It all sounds like fan-service of the very highest calibre.
There's no word yet on an exact release date for Burial At Sea, but both parts of it will cost 1200 MS points/£9.99 a piece. All three pieces of DLC will be free to any player who bought BioShock Infinite's Season Pass.
