Battlefield 3, EA’s first person shooter collaboration with DICE, has rocketed to the top of the UK All Format Gaming Charts following strong opening weekend sales.
Despite being rocked in the hours after launch by a failure of the EA Online servers which prevented gamers making user of the title’s extensive multiplayer functionality, Battlefield 3 has recorded the tenth highest selling opening week UK sales.
Having topped the UK All Format Gaming Chart last week, Warner’s Batman: Arkham City is bumped down to second spot for the week ending October 29th with FIFA 12 relegated to third position in the league table.
Following hot on the heels of FIFA, fellow football based title Football Manager 2012 lines up in fourth ahead of Just Dance 3, Forza Motorsport 4 and The Sims 3: Pets in fifth to seventh respectively. This year’s gaming chart foundation Zumba Fitness once again makes the top ten lining up in eighth ahead of Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure and Rage.
Despite firmly clinching chart success in its opening week it is expected Battlefield 3’s reign of dominance will be short lived with the eagerly awaited Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 release date pencilled in for next Tuesday, November 8th.
