EA and DICE today released the eagerly awaited Battlefield 3 to UK markets with 10 million copies of the first person shooter and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 rival shipped ahead of launch
Battlefield 3 published Electronic Arts has revealed that it has already shipped ten million copies of its newly launched first person shooter with strong opening sales suggesting this figure is soon to rise.
With the Battlefield 3 UK release date coming as the clocks struck midnight to mark today, October 28th, EA’s CEO John RIccitiello has revealed in an earnings call that the Call of Duty rival is “off to a fantastic star on sales and quality.”
"We shipped 10 million units to retail and we are already receiving reorders,” Riccitiello said. “The data is still early but sell-through is strong.”
With strong consumer demand for the intense first person shooter expected retailers have entered a price war in an attempt to secure interest from gamers. With Battlefield 3 priced at around the £40 at most outlets, Game has revealed it is to offer the title for just £4.99 to any customers looking to trade in a copy of either Batman: Arkham City, Gears of War 3, Forza 4 or Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 by November 3.
