EA’s explosive first person shooter Battlefield 3 has fought off stiff competition with the announcement that the title has sold a staggering 8 million copies.
Following the official Battlefield 3 UK release late last month, EA’s hotly anticipated FPS title has continued to live up to expectation despite a 54 per cent drop in sales in the second week, which regardless still kept it above the then newly released Uncharted 3 which recorded the 11th highest PS3 launch week in UK history.
EA saw success that week with FIFA 12 landing in third ahead of Batman Arkham City, Just Dance 3 and Football Manager 2012 in fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
Of course the sobering statistic is that while 8 million is very impressive it's still nowhere near the success that Modern Warfare 3 accomplished, selling 9.3 million copies in the first week alone, but that said, this is a very positive start for the people at EA.
