B&O shows off new telly

26-inch goggle box sports unique design and a hefty price tag.

Bang and Olufsen has kissed goodbye to the same-old flat panel design you see in well-heeled front rooms everywhere. The high end guru has instead launched its very own take on the hi def goggle box, the BeoVision 8.

This new 26-inch, HD ready picture spitter sits at an angle and chucks out sound from just beneath the screen. There's HDMI and VGA down the back so you can get your hi def deck and gaming hub wired up no problem. The folks at B & O are also hoping those who splash out on one will use it as a slick PC monitor too.

The remote deals with other B & O products, but if you were hoping for built in digital telly, you'll be left disappointed. This box is strictly analogue, so if you want your TV in new money (and why not?), then you'll have to hook up your existing freeview box, or simply slap on Sky HD.

It clocks in at an eye-watering £1,800, plus an extra £200 if you want the stand. But then if you love staying in and watching the box...
