ASUS launches the N20A ultraportable

The Eee finds a big brother

ASUS plans to ship 20 million notebooks in 2009, which probably explains its strategy of announcing a new one every week. And this week's offering is the N20A.

Loosely described as an ultraportable (too big for a netbook, not quite battling with the big boys), the N20A is being offered with a choice of four Intel Core 2 Duo processors, fairly lightweight GMA X4500HD integrated graphics, a DVD burner, up to 320GB of storage and up to 4GB of memory. Not exactly groundbreaking, but not bad all the same.

It does sound a little better when you add in the extras, including a 1.3MP webcam, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, support for mobile broadband, and plenty of ports (from USB through to HDMI), not to mention a battery life of up to 12 hours. But we're not exactly fumbling for the credit card in anticipation. No confirmed price as yet, but we expect something as middling as the specification - hovering around the £650 mark.

With the N20a clearly not the last Eee offering we are likely to see from Asus, introduce yourself to the rest of the Eee PC family below
