Arm and Ubuntu take aim at the netbook market

I've got the brains, you've got the looks, let's made lots of money

Mobile phone chip maker Arm is wrestling its way into the netbook market, with a little help from new friend Ubuntu.

The all-new double acts plans to work together for a Arm-powered, Linux-run device, described loosely as 'a small internet-centric device', hoping to be the Morecambe & Wise of the market rather than the Cannon & Ball. Or even worse, the Little & Large. In truth, it sounds like just another netbook so far, but we wait to be impressed when it lands at next year's Computex show.

It's all part of Ubuntu's plan for world domination in the coming months, with the company pitching more of its resources at the mobile and netbook markets, as well as getting up close and personal with Intel - look out for a newly-developed mobile platform from that pairing in 2009.
