Archos internet tablet with Android due 15th September

Android set to appear on non-mobile handset device for the first time

The Android-fueled internet tablet from Archos will finally arrive on September 15th this year, the French manufacturer has confirmed.

The long-promised slab, which we first wrote about in February, will be the first device outside of the mobile phones launched by HTC to carry the Google Android operating software.

The news comes after it was revealed last month that the Archos 9 (pictured) would carry the new Windows 7 software rather than Android as initially hoped/rumoured. Archos are also promising an autumn launch for this.

But it's the Android tablet that holds by far the most intrigue, especially it it turns out to pack the 160GB storage, 1.2GHz Intel Atom processor and 1064x600 resolution screen boasted by the imminent Windows rival.
