Apple's Sir Jonathan Ive gets Blue Peter gold badge

Apple exec responds with one he made earlier...

Sir Jonathan Ive, senior vice president of industrial design at Apple, will be honoured with a gold Blue Peter badge in a special, gadget-themed, episode of the show

Sir Jony Ive is one of the most recognisable names in tech, and now the British-born designer is being honoured by kid's TV show Blue Peter.

Following the likes of David Beckham, JK Rowling and the Queen, Ive is to be presented with a gold Blue Peter badge (the show's highest honour) in a special gadget-themed episode set to air on Saturday.

In a nice twist, the Apple executive presented Blue Peter with his own take on the iconic ship badge - one made from solid aluminium and created by his design team in California.

Ive was knighted last year for his services to design and enterprise, and has been responsible for Apple's iconic design in products like the iPhone, iMac and iPad.

Only about 1,000 Blue Peter gold badges have been awarded. To see Sir Jony pick up his, check out the gadget special episode on the CBBC channel at 10am tomorrow.
