Apple to sue Palm over Pre device?
We don't like the look of yours
Arguably the scene stealer at this year's CES, the Palm Pre and its interface is already in the firing line - from Apple.
You see, Apple sees more than a little iPhone in the Pre, with acting Apple CEO Tim Cook talking up the iPhone against all comers, '...as long as they don’t rip off our IP and if they do we’re going to go after anybody that does.' Palm, you have been warned. And that probably goes for the iPhone Flip if Apple works out who is actually making them in China.
When pushed on the point, Cook went further: 'I don’t want to talk about any specific company. I’m just making a general statement that we think competition is good. It makes us all better. And we are ready to suit up and go against anyone. However, we will not stand for having our IP ripped off, and we’ll use whatever weapons that we have at our disposal. I don’t know that I can be clearer than that.'
Lawyers on both sides are no doubt rubbing their hands in anticipation, with Apple having plenty in the coffers for a lengthy fight. As for Palm? Well, we suspect the Pre will make or break them - in one way or another.
