Apple offers $99 iPad replacement for dead batt

An iPad is for life, not just for Christmas

Apple has just provided information on its iPad battery replacement service, which actually doesn’t replace batteries at all. Instead, if your iPad’s battery life seems to be waning, Apple will send you a replacement iPad for just $99 (£62).

Apple has posted the following: “"If your iPad requires service due to the battery's diminished ability to hold an electrical charge, Apple will replace your iPad for a service fee."

In effect, it’s likely that the iPad you send in will have its battery replaced and sent to some other poor soul (unless of course it’s really battered). This method means that whole procedure will be a lot quicker. But it also means that you’ll have to back up everything on your iPad before sending it off.

Despite this, Apple’s solution seems like a very good way to extend the life of your iPad. Let’s hope the price doesn’t get hiked up too much then when it arrives in the UK.
