The iPhone 5 will have a larger screen according to iOS 6, in the same way Mac OS X revealed the Mac Retina Display iOS 6 will work on a 4-inch display

The Apple iPhone 5 will most likely feature a larger 640x1136 4-inch display and come with an entirely new row of apps after it was found that when set to this resolution iOS 6 natively changed to homescreen to adapt to the rumoured iPhone 5's display dimensions.
The discovery was made by 9to5mac who tried to adjust the resolution on both iOS 5.1 and iOS 6, what they then found was that while iOS 6 simply spaced the current apps out more, iOS 6 natively added a whole new row and changed the layout.
While this is by no means concrete proof that the iPhone 5 will have a larger display this is not the first time that a developer version of an Apple OS has leaked an upcoming product.
An update to Mac OS X revealed that Apple would be releasing a Retina DIsplay MacBook after it was found that all the icons had almost doubled in resolution.
One theory is that this new adaptable layout for iOS 6 is not only there to accomodate the increased screen size of the iPhone 5 but also to accomodate what could be the much rumoured iPad Mini.
iPhone 5 Rumours:
Currently rumoured to have a release date of 12th September the iPhone 5 is set to feature a new thinner design and will reportedly come with a new 19-pin dock port instead of the current larger dock that is seen on the New iPad and the iPhone 4S.
Images showing what could be early prototypes point to a headphone jack on the bottom and an all-metal casing using liquid-metal technology.
