Cupertino based tech behemoth Apple has confirmed that it saw more than 1 million iPhone 4S handsets sold in the first 24 hours the iOS 5 device was available for pre-order
Breaking the company’s record for the most pre-orders in a single day the 1 million iPhone 4S pre-orders eclipsed the mark set last year when the iPhone 4 recorded 600,000 advanced orders in its opening day.
"We are blown away with the incredible customer response to iPhone 4S," said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. "The first day pre-orders for iPhone 4S have been the most for any new product that Apple has ever launched and we are thrilled that customers love iPhone 4S as much as we do."

Adding 1080p Full HD video recording capabilities and the intuitive voice commanded assistant Siri, the Apple iPhone 4S is to be the first device to support Apple’s iOS 5 mobile operating system from launch with the revamped OS to boast integrated Twitter and a new notifications tool.
Apple iPhone 4S Release Date
With iOS 5 to be made available as a download to existing iPhone, iPad and iPod touter this Wednesday, October 12th, the Apple iPhone 4S UK release date has been set for October 14th. Despite being four days away fans of the upcoming Apple handset have already begun queuing outside Apple’s flagship London Regent Street store.
