Apple iPad app to train UK soldiers

An Apple iPad app recruited to train UK troops

The Apple iPad has an app that teaches UK troops how to handle a fire mission.

The Apple iPad is being used by the Royal School of Artillery in Wiltshire, as it trains UK soldiers with an iPad app.

The app has been used in early trials to help troops learn how to handle a fire mission - when artillery is fired at the enemy from several miles away.

These early trials suggest that the students are picking up jargon and procedures quickly than before, when the soldiers would be taught by instructors in a traditional classroom setting.

This opens up a whole new market for the Apple iPad, as well as other tablets, with the same team behind this app working on a 3D app for army pilots.
