Latest Apple iPad 3 leaks have claimed the next-gen tablet will sport a new camera, improved battery and a Retina display based on its new shell

Ahead of the tablet’s eagerly awaited official unveiling, new reports have claimed to have leaked photographs of the new, thicker, Apple iPad 3 case.

The latest in a long line of claimed iPad 3 component leaks, a touted iPad 3 shell has hit the web with the marginally thicker casing snapped alongside its existing, official, iPad 2 counterpart.

Seemingly confirming a flurry of recent reports that have suggested the third-gen tablet will be 1mm thicker than its predecessor, the additional size of the next Apple tablet is rumoured to be in order to make space for the new Retina display, improved batteries and a larger, 128GB storage option.

Apple iPad 3 Rumours

Far from the first time claimed Apple iPad 3 components have made a premature appearance across the web, the latest next-gen tablet leak joins a number of reports that have claimed to out the eagerly awaited array of iPad 3 specs.

Tipped for inclusion on the second-generation Apple tablet, the iPad 3 is expected to play host to a higher resolution screen, similar to the Retina display offering found on the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S.

"The new display is capable of greater resolution than the current iPad, with more pixels on its screen than some high- definition televisions," an unnamed insider source announced recently. "The pixels are small enough to make the images look like printed material. Videos begin playing almost instantly because of the additional graphics processing."

Elsewhere recent iPad 3 rumours have suggested the iPad 2 replacement will feature a form factor 1mm thicker than its predecessor with the increased internal space to be filled with the new display, an A6 quad-core CPU and improved optics for the rear-mounted camera.
