Apple brags more than one million iPhone 3Gs were sold in first weekend

Steve Jobs may've set too low a sales target back at WWDC when he said he'd like to sell 10 million iPhone 3Gs in the first year, as in just 72 hours, they've smashed through with one million reported sales.
"iPhone 3G had a stunning opening weekend, it took 74 days to sell the first one million original iPhones, so the new iPhone 3G is clearly off to a great start around the world", Steve Jobs was quoted as saying in regards to the news, mentally counting the dollars Apple had earnt in just the first weekend.
These sales were recorded in 21 countries where the iPhone 3G went on sale on Friday, including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK and the US. France will see the iPhone 3G made available on the 17th of July, just six days after the aforementioned countries.
Also announced today by Apple were the surprising figures surrounding the App store, which recorded more than 10 million downloads since opening midday last Thursday. There are more than 800 applications available in the store, with 200 of them costing exactly zilch, and 90% at under $10.
It's official - the iPhone 3G has been confirmed as a money-printer.
