Apple and Best Buy in iPad 2 dispute

Apple pulls slates from US Best Buy stores

Gadget retailer had been holding back stock.

Apple has pulled the iPad 2 from US outlets of Best Buy, after the retail giant was found to be holding back stock. Word is stores were telling punters the iPad 2 was unavailable when in reality they’d simply reached a daily sales quota.

According to an anonymous Best Buy staffer, Apple has decided to stop selling the iPad 2 at Best Buy. What’s more, top exec Tim Cook is said to be handling negotiations, suggesting Jobs and co are taking this pretty seriously indeed.

There’s no word on whether UK Best Buy stores have been affected. Unofficial figures suggest the iPad 2 has already sold in excess of 2.5 million units, as the slate continues to dominate the competition.
