Apple’s iPhone handset is to expand its credentials as a pocket gaming device as retailer RED5 announces it is to launch an augmented reality gaming peripheral for the market leading smartphone.

Boasting a trigger-to-touchscreen system the appBlaster combines with the free app based AR game Alien Attack to offer iPhone touters a new level of immersive mobile gaming.

With a trigger pull activating two soft pads that touch the screen to fire at the AR attacks, the appBlaster further increases its gamer immersion utilising the iPhone’s accelerometer with tilt to reload joining a manual cocking option.

Due for release on July 7th, the apptoyz appBlaster is available for pre-order now exclusive to online retailer RED5.co.uk priced £19.99. Those extra keen to pick up the iPhone gaming add-on will be able to snap up the appBlaster from London’s Oxford Street Selfridges a day early on July 6th.
