APP NEWS:

Angry Birds isn't the only app serving up some festive cheer, with big rival Cut the Rope now offering a free festive edition for the iPhone. Cut the Rope: Holiday Gift, with 25 new levels, is now available to download from the App Store.

Mac App Store delayed?
The was huge excitement that MacBook owners would be getting their own App Store, as Apple look to impart the iPad's interface onto OS X, but we're probably going to have to wait until the new year. Rumours also suggest that there'll be no support for Game Centre and a very limited array of apps available when it's eventually launched.

Apps are better than books says Jamie Oliver
While he's probably not making as much money from his apps yet as he is from his umpteen cookbooks, Jamie Oliver reckons mobile apps are "so much more brilliant than books". It seems Jamie's English isn't quite as good as his cooking.

Gmail app for Android gets major overhual
Google has given Android owners a festive treat by upgrading the Android app making it much more user friendly. It's now easier to organise your priority mails as well as reply to all and forward emails thanks to a drop down menu. Unfortunately for many Android users it only works on 2.2 handsets.
