Anonymous has executed cyber attacks against Israeli sites, knocking some offline and posting pro-Palestinian messages on others
Anonymous hacks Israeli websites
The hacktivist group Anonymous has attacked a series of Israeli websites in an operations its dubbed the OpIsrael Campaign. The attacks resulted in some sites being taken offline completely and others left defaced with pro-Palestinian messages.
The group says the attacks were its response to the Israeli Government’s threat to cut off telecommunication links in Gaza.
In a statement on the AnonRelations website the group said, “when the government of Israel publicly threatened to sever all Internet and other telecommunications into and out of Gaza they crossed a line in the sand.”
“As the former dictator of Egypt Mubarack learned the hard way – we are ANONYMOUS and NO ONE shuts down the Internet on our watch.”
The group said it was issuing a single warning to the Israeli Government on this issue. It also called for a cessation to all Israeli military operations in Gaza.
This isn’t the first time the hacker group has issued warnings to a country’s governing body. In August of this year, Anonymous targeted Ukrainian government websites for taking BitTorrent link tracker Demonoid offline.
