Angry Birds to land on PS3 and PSP consoles this week

Bird-flinging app success to begin console rollout

PSN first Angry Birds console target

App sensation Angry Birds is set to land on the PlayStation Network within the coming week as developer Rovio continues its multi-platform attack of the bird-flinging game.

To be made available as a downloadable PlayStation mini release for PS3 and PSP gamers, the Sony-bound rendition of the mobile application success will feature 63 levels of pig-attacking fun, far fewer levels than seen on the iOS and Android-based mobile editions.

As if we weren’t all completely aware of the premise of Angry Birds, Sony’s latest PSN press release read: "Angry Birds features hours of gameplay, challenging physics-based castle demolition, and lots of replay value." It went on to add: "Dish out revenge on the green pigs who stole the Birds’ eggs. Use the unique destructive powers of the Angry Birds to lay waste to the pigs’ fortified castles.”

Having dominated the mobile market in 2010, Rovio recently announced its intentions to roll out the Angry Birds game across the three major consoles in 2011, with the PS3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii to be joined by Windows and Mac computers, the Nintendo DS and Windows Phone 7 handsets.
