The latest rendition of the Angry Birds franchise has flown on the App Store with iPhone and iPad owners now able to download the movie tie-in Angry Birds Rio.
Available for 59pence on the iPhone or £1.79 for the HD iPad edition, Angry Birds fanatics can now enjoy a Brazilian-based version of the mega app with the feathered flinging game losing the villainous pigs in favour of monkeys and macaw found in the upcoming 20th Century Fox animated film release.
Launching with premium and free renditions of either platform the Angry Birds Rio release has also touched down alongside the arrival of the Amazon Appstore. Whilst Apple’s legal action against the online retail for the use of the term Appstore has stolen many of the headlines, those who sign up to the Amazon service today will be rewarded with Angry Birds Rio free of charge.
A surprising omission from the AB Rio rollout, however, is Google’s Android platform with the ppopular OS still awaiting its latest avian filled dose of addictive gaming. Although landing alongside a movie release, developer Rovia has confirmed updates will be issues for Angry Birds Rio throughout 2011.
