Angry Birds maker announces Bad Piggies follow-up

After years of torment, the pigs are out to get their revenge

They say revenge is a dish best served cold and it would seem the Angry Birds are about to get a healthy serving

Rovio, the game’s creators, have today announced a new version of the hit mobile game, named Bad Piggies, which will allow gamers to play as the egg-jacking swines, as opposed to the bad-tempered birds.

The Finnish firm is keeping tight-lipped about any other details, although they have said that there is ‘not a slingshot in sight’.

In terms of the catapult, we’re guessing Rovio has decided to go for a beefier weapon that is powerful enough to shoot out the hefty grunts, such as a canon. Although it’s all the subject of speculation – for now.

Rovio CEO, Mikael Hed, said: 'There’s a lot of empathy towards the lovable enemies from the Angry Birds games, and we’ve been constantly asked: what about the pigs’ side of the story?

'Bad Piggies gives you the chance to play as the second-most-loved characters in the Angry Birds universe, and explore this rich world through their green eyes.'

The new game will be available on iOS, Android and Mac from September 27. Windows Phone, Windows 8 and PC versions are expected to follow shortly.
